Technical Assistance:
1. Make sure you vary the times of day you do your evacuation drills. Thirty minutes to evacuate is too long, please document the time it takes to quickly get out of the house with the children.
2. Please review all contracts with the parents to make sure you have filled out your check in and check out procedures.
3. Review all children's files to ensure that you are obtaining from the parents annual updates regarding emergency contacts and parental contact information. These annual updates must be documented.
4. Make sure your bathroom water temperature does not exceed 120 degrees.
5. The bookshelf in the daycare area may tip over more easily due to the books on the top shelf. Please remove the items from the top shelf to ensure that it doesn't present a tipping over hazard.

6. Review standard 250B which addressing potential choke hazards from toys or objects less than 1 1/4 inches in diameter and less than two inches in length, which shall be kept out of reach of children under three years. Monitor and remove or repair toys that may break and become potential chocking hazards.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today with the provider from 9:10 am to 11:15 am. The provider was present with five children, 7 months, 13 months, 15 months, 2 years and 4 years of age for a total of 16 points.
The provider reported that for breakfast, that the older two children were served peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, banana and milk.
The children engaged in free play during most of the inspection. The provider reported that she has no medication on site for any of the children nor have their been any injuries/accidents requiring first aid.
Four household member's files were reviewed as well as five children's files.

Standard #: 22.1-289.036-B-2
Description: Based on interview and a review of recordkeeping, it was determined that a household member did not obtain a fingerprint background check within 30 days of turning 18 years of age.
Evidence:
Person B turned 18 years of age in March 2022. There was no fingerprint background check available for Person B.

Description: Based on a review of the escape drill log and interview, it was determined that practiced escape drills were not conducted monthly as there was no drill for October 2022.

Description: Based on observation, it was determined that an empty plastic bag, large enough to fit a child's head inside was in the play area on the floor. The plastic bag was accessible to the five children present, all of which were under 5 years of age. The bag presented a suffocation hazard.
