Technical Assistance:
The next anticipated inspection will be the providers renewal inspection. Provider was reminded to have all renewal application documents submitted through the provider portal 45 days prior to expiration for processing. Links to the portal can be found on the VDOE website.

Licensing inspector had discussions with the provider on the following topics: documenting attendance arrival as the children arrive, documenting changes to the food menu

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 8:30am and 11:00am. There were 8 children present with the Provider and 1 assistant for a total of 18 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing freely, eating breakfast, putting coats and rainboots on to play on the community playground. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, menu, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Violations were found during today?s inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-880
Description: Based on observation, the family day home did not follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food
Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Evidence: The children were observed eating oatmeal with yogurt mixed in. The children were not offered a full serving of fruit or milk.

Plan of Correction: There was apples in the oatmeal. The parents don't want them drinking milk and they don't drink milk because they don't drink at home.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-890
Description: Based on observation and interview, food containers brought from home were not clearly labeled in a way that identifies the owner.
Evidence: A container of pasta was observed sitting on a shelf. The container was not labeled with a child's name. The provider confirmed that the pasta belonged to an enrolled child that brings their own food.

Plan of Correction: I'll have the parents do it.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-60-B
Description: Based on record review, children's records did not contain all required information.
Evidence: Child #7 and Child #9's records did not contain documentation of the families medical insurance policy number.

Plan of Correction: I can text the parents and they'll provide me with the numbers today.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-320-B
Description: Based on observation, protective covers were not installed on all unused electrical outlets accessible to children under five years of age.
Evidence: There was one unused outlet that did not have a protective cover next to a shelf in the children's play area.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
