8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

A Subsidy Health and Safety monitoring inspection was conducted on 03/20/2023 between the hours of approximately 10:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 10 children present with the Provider and 2 assistants for a total of 20 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing with puzzles and preparing to go outside. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, attendance and emergency procedures was completed during this inspection. There were 0 medications on site at this time. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-790-250-B Description: Based on provider interview, not all caregivers completed Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff, within the first 90 days of employment.
Evidence: The provider stated that Caregiver #1 (start date: 11/21/2022) had not had time to complete the Virginia Preservice Training yet.Plan of Correction: I will tell her to start as soon as possible and be done next week.
