Technical Assistance:
Clarification was offered on the following Standards:
* 8VAC20-800-770. Emergency flashlights and radios.
A working battery-operated flashlight, a working portable battery-operated weather band radio, and extra batteries shall be kept in a designated area and be available to caregivers at all times.
* 8VAC20-800-69. Diapering and toileting.
D. The diapering surface shall be:

* 8VAC20-800-600. Daily activities for infants and toddlers.
B. Infants and toddlers shall spend no more than 30 minutes of consecutive time during waking hours, with the exception of mealtimes, confined in a crib, play pen, high chair or other confining piece of equipment. The intervening time period between confinements shall be at least one hour.

Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted on 03/22/2023 between the hours of approximately 11:15 am and 1:50 pm. There were 12 children present, ranging in ages from 9 months to 4 years for 37 points, with 3 staff supervising. Children and staff were observed while getting ready to go out for outside play, transitioning to lunch and transitioning to naptime.
The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 5 staff/household members records were reviewed. Training hours for all four caregivers are in excess of the required 16 hours of annual training required. The entire physical space of the family day home was also reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-180-A
Description: Based on record review, the provider did not ensure that employees obtain and submit the results of a follow-up tuberculosis (Tb) screening at least every two years.
Evidence:
1) The Tb screening form in the record for Caregiver #3 was dated 01/13/2021.

Plan of Correction: Caregiver #3 shall schedule a Tb screening as soon as possible.
