.
Consultation was given on ensuring that the provider doe not exceed the 16 points allowed per caregiver. All children present in the day care count in points. Household members do not count in capacity. An assistant would allow the provider to watch additional children as each caregiver can be responsible for 16 points. Points are determined by the age of the child. Please note that the point system for Arlington County and VA Licensing do not align exactly.

An assistant will need all required background checks, TB, references and orientation.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal study was conducted today. Four children were in care with one provider for fourteen points which was within ratios for supervision. One child was sleeping during the inspection and the other 3 were observed in free play. The main level of the home is dedicated to childcare and has equipment and materials for very young children in care. Reviewed one child's record, emergency preparation, training requirements, cribs, background checks, rabies for household pets and TB for all household members. Lunch is bought from home each day. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Feel free to contact me if you need any assistance.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-50-A
Description: Based on record review, the daily attendance does not reflect the number of children in care each day.

Child #1 was not listed on the written attendance record.

Plan of Correction: The provider added the child's name to the attendance record the day of the inspection and will make sure all children are listed moving forward.
