Comments:
An unannounced Monitoring inspection was conducted today. A total of 9 children (23pts) with 2 staff and 1 visitor were present today. The children were arriving in the morning to the family day home. Some children were observed playing toge4ther in small groups with various equipment and toys located in the programming space. The younger children were in a separate area with 1 staff. The staff were observed fastening the children into high chairs and preparing them for breakfast. The remainder of the children were then observed washing their hands and sitting at the smaller tables preparing to eat their breakfast. Breakfast today was cereal, yogurt and fresh strawberries. Staff were assisting the younger children with eating. The provider was observed demonstrating positive behavior guidance with some children during circle time by reminding them the rules of sitting in circle time in their designated places. In circle time, the provider provided a gross motor activity where the children were dancing and wiggling to a movement song. Circle share time followed where the children took turns sharing what they did over the weekend. Choice time followed where the children were observed playing together or actively engaged in individual activities such as drawing, or creating a sticker project. No medication needs at this time and no identified food allergies. A total of 4 children's records, all household records and all staff records were reviewed. The previous violations from the last inspection were reviewed and corrective actions were verified. This inspection began at 8:30am and ended at approximately 10:15am. Thank you for your cooperation today. Please email me at: lisa.hudson@doe.virginia.gov with any questions.
