The home, 3 staff records, 4 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were sleeping but one infant was awake. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. The home was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.
If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Cynthia Ford at Cynthia.ford@doe.virginia.gov or 703-479-4679.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-420-A
Description: Based on observation, one room used for sleeping infants was not lighted well for safety.
Evidence:
1. Two areas were used for sleeping. The area that holds cribs was too dark to even see infants in the cribs.
2. The Provider stated there were two sleeping infants but a light had to be turned on to see the infants.

Plan of Correction: I will keep a soft light on to ensure visibility of infants while sleeping.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-530-G
Description: Based on observation, it was determined the program allowed a child under two years of age to use a pillow to sleep.
Evidence:
1. Child #1 was 13 months old and Caregiver was trying to help Child #1 to sleep on a mat. The child was elevated by a Boppy Pillow.

Plan of Correction: Pillow was removed immediately. I thought it was okay to help the child fall asleep and then we would remove. The infant had reflux at one time and we have always kept him elevated. We wont anymore.
