A renewal inspection was conducted on 5/3/2023 with the provider and two caregivers. There were 13 children present, ranging in ages from 1 year to 12 years, with 2 staff supervising. A third caregiver arrived about 30 minutes later. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 4 caregiver records were reviewed. The children were having afternoon snack, arriving from school, and playing outdoors.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-40-A Description: Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the provider failed to ensure that the total number of children receiving care at any one time did not exceed the maximum licensed capacity of the home.
Evidence: The family day home has a licensed capacity of 12 day care children. On 5/3/23, at 3:30 p.m. the licensing inspector observed 13 daycare children present. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-690-L Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to clean and sanitize toilet chairs after each use. Evidence: Upon arrival on 5/3/2023, the licensing inspector observed urine in a toilet chair. Caregiver 3 rinsed the toilet chair out in the sink. The toilet chair was not cleaned or sanitized.
