Discussed with the Provider: Children's records, evacuation drills, written information to parents, and staff files.

Comments:
An announced Initial inspection was conducted on 5/25/2023 from 10:40 am to 12:47 pm. There are 6 children (19 points) supervised by 2 direct caregivers. The home, 3 staff records, 6 children?s records, 2 household members? records, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed playing outside, napping, and eating lunch. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Thank you for your cooperation during this inspection. Description: Based on observation and interview, the family day home did not ensure each first aid kit had all the required items.

Evidence: Triangular bandages were missing from the first aid kit.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-800-A
Description: Based on review of documentation and interview, the family day home did not have a written emergency preparedness and response plan that includes provisions for a responsible person who is 18 years of age or older and is able to arrive at the family day home within 10 minutes for emergency backup care until the children can be picked up by their parents.

Evidence: There were six children present at the initial license inspection. The provider is only permitted to enroll three children. Before enrolling more children than what the current permit allows, a license must be obtained.

Plan of Correction: 2 responsible persons were included in the emergency preparedness plan for emergency backup care.

Plan of Correction: I misunderstood the standards and I thought I was allow to enroll new kids once my SUP was approved on April 6, 2023. 3 kids were placed on the waiting list staring today.

Description: Based on observation and interview, areas and furnishings of the family day home, inside and outside, were not maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.

Evidence: The outlet near the diaper changing table was missing an outlet wall plate.

Plan of Correction: An outlet wall plate was installed.
