An unannounced renewal study was conducted from 2:40 pm - 3:40 pm. There were ten children in care with the provider and one assistant for a total of 31 points. The children were observed eating snack and watching television. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and three staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. If

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-900-A Description: Based on observation it was determined that foods considered to be a choking hazard were served to children under four years old. Evidence: The LI (licensing inspector) observed whole grapes being served to child B (Age 18 months). Plan of Correction: The provider sliced the grapes during the inspection. Potential choking hazards will not be served to children under four years old.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-100-A Description: Based on review of five children's records it was determined that not all records contained documentation of a physical within the first thirty days of enrollment. Evidence: The record for child A (start date: 01/23/23) did not have documentation of a physical on file. Plan of Correction: The provider will request an up to date physical from the parents of child A.
