Technical assistance was offered related to: children's records, trainings, renewal of conditional license, and emergency procedures.

An unannounced non-mandated inspection was conducted today from 11:25 am to 12:15pm. The purpose of this inspection was to assess the care of children and to assess compliance in other areas during the conditional license period. There were no children in care. One child's record, one pet's record and the provider's training document was reviewed. The record for emergency drills and attendance was also reviewed. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-A Description: Based on staff interview, emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly with all caregivers and children in care.
Evidence: The provider stated that an emergency evacuation drill was not practiced for the month of May 2023.Plan of Correction: Drills will be conducted and recorded on the log.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-100-A Description: Based on record review, the provider did not obtain documentation of a physical examination within 30 days of the first day of attendance.
Evidence: Child # 1's first day of attendance was 5/3/23. Documentation of Child # 1's physical exam has not been obtained to this date.Plan of Correction: The child is on vacation and the record will be obtained as soon as they return.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-50-A Description: Based on record review and staff interview, the family day home did not keep a written attendance for children in care.
1. The provider stated that Child # 1's first day of attendance was 5/3/23 and last day before vacation was 6/19/23.
2. The attendance record only had written documentation from 5/3/23 through 5/16/23. Attendance was not recorded after that date.Plan of Correction: Attendance will be recorded and kept current.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-90-A Description: Based on record review, the provider did not obtain documentation of immunizations for a child in care prior to the first day of attendance.
Evidence: Child #1's first day of attendance was 5/3/23. Immunizations records for Child # 1 have not been obtained to this date.Plan of Correction: The child is on vacation and the record will be obtained as soon as they return.
