Technical assistance: Emergency drills, diapering and meals/snacks.

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from10:40 am to 11:45 am. There were 2 children (5 points) in care of one caregiver. The children were observed eating morning snack, playing with puzzles and getting diapered. Handwashing was observed after diapering. 2 children's records and attendance was reviewed. The outdoor play area was assessed. Areas of concerns are listed in the violation notice. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-A Description: Based on staff interview, emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly.
Evidence: The provider stated that she did not know she had to practice evacuation drills monthly. No drills were conducted since the provider became licensed.Plan of Correction: Evacuation drills will be practiced monthly and recorded in the drills log.
