Technical Assistance:

Provided consultation and discussed: 1) Safe monitoring of each sleeping infant by in-person observation at least once every 15 minutes 2) Standard 570: the provider shall ensure that a caregiver does not exceed 16 points by using the following point system A: children birth - 15 months count as four points each B: children 16 months - 23 months count as three points each C: children 2 years - four years count as two points each D: children five years - nine years count as one point each Children that reside in the home count as part of the point total but not the capacity total 3) Ongoing training - 16 hour annual requirement; Virginia Preservice Training for Childcare Staff is a free 10-hour on-line class found on our website: childcare.virginia.gov (click on providers, training and professional development) 4) Behavioral guidance, transporting children, emergency procedures, handwashing and diapering procedures and nutrition and food service.

Comments:

An announced initial inspection was conducted from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon with the provider. There were no children in care during this inspection. Two caregiver/household member records were reviewed along with the provider's policies and procedures. The childcare area was observed and is organized and equipped with age-appropriate toys, supplies and equipment including arts and crafts materials, puzzles, dolls, balls, blocks, books and cars and trucks. There was one crib, in compliance with a manufacture date of 7/2020. Reviewed the first aid kit for completeness along with the battery operated flashlight and weather band radio. Required information was posted. The provider has current certification in CPR and First Aid but is not Medication Administration Training (MAT) certified and cannot administer medicine to children in care.
