Technical Assistance:
Discussed the need to conduct a shelter in place drill twice a year given you have been operating for six months.

A reminder provided that an annual lock down drill is required for Subsidy Vendors.

You are reminded to review all emergency contacts for children enrolled at the beginning of next year.

Comments:
An unannounced Renewal inspection was conducted today. There were a total of 5 children (9pts) with the Provider and 1 Assistant onsite. Two new children enrolled since the last inspection in March. The children had just returned from playing outside and were actively engaged with playing with each other, building objects out of legos and blocks. One child was observed being comforted by the Provider while being held. The children were expressive with activities they enjoy doing at the family day home. Positive behavioral guidance was observed between the Provider and two children. The Provider reminded the children of rules and safe play. The Provider laid a large geometrical mat down for the children to stand on and name the shapes and colors of each one. Older children were encouraging the younger children to participate. A walk through of the home was made along with the backyard where the children play. One crib currently being used for one child. Sufficient outdoor toys and equipment was found that were age appropriate based on the ages of the children currently in care. No medication needs or food allergies identified today. A total of 2 newly enrolled children's files were reviewed and all staff/household members. The previous violation from the last inspection was reviewed and corrective action was verified. The Provider demonstrates an overall understanding of the state regulations during the 6 month conditional licensing period. This inspection occurred between 10:15am and 11:50am.Thank you for your cooperation today. Please email me at: lisa.hudson@doe.virginia.gov with any questions.
