The playground could not be inspected today due to the snow covered ground. Suggested that the "mandated reporter" section in the staff handbook be expanded to include a detailed process staff should follow in the event that they suspect child abuse or neglect. The files for two new staff and one recently promoted staff person were reviewed today.
An unannounced full renewal inspection was conducted today. There were 45 children in care, with a total of 10 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. The children were observed creating polar bear art, completing birds nest projects, playing with play doh, building a camping area out of blocks, attending movement class, and engaging in free play activities. This inspection was completed between approximately 9:45 am and 11:30 am. If you have any questions regarding this inspection please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-K Description: Based on a review of administrative documents, it was determined that the playground safety plan is not complete. Evidence: The playground safety plan does not include a statement indicating staff responsibility for maintaining an adequate level of resilient surfacing. Plan of Correction: I will update the playground safety plan.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on a review of children's records, it was determined that one record was not complete. Evidence: Child record #2 does not include the phone number for each parent's place of employment. Plan of Correction: The records will be updated.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a review of staff records, it was determined that two records were not complete. Evidence: Record #2 and #3 do not include documentation to indicate a management staff person has verified each employee's age. Plan of Correction: I will make a copy of each license or tax document and place in each file.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-80-A Description: Based on a review of administrative documents, it was determined that one class did not keep a written record of children in attendance today. Evidence: The attendance in Room 6 had not been completed for today when the Inspector entered the classroom. Plan of Correction: The attendance was completed during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on a review of emergency drill documentation, it was determined that the school did not conduct at least 2 shelter-in-place drills during the past school year. Evidence: The school practiced only 1 shelter-in-place drill during the past school year. Plan of Correction: We will do at least 2 drills this year.
