Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted today between 9:15am and 10:30am. There were 10 children present with 2 caregivers supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed engaging in circle time. A total of 3 child records and 3 caregiver records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-60-B
Description: Based on review of children's records, not all records contained the required information.
Evidence
The record for child #1 does not contain an address for the emergency contacts.

Plan of Correction: I will get the emergency contact address information and update the record. I will make sure to get all required information when a child starts care.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-460-C
Description: Based on review of family day home pet records, the pet was not vaccinated for rabies.
Evidence
There was no current documentation available for review of the family day home pet being vaccinated for rabies. The documentation available was expired.

Plan of Correction: The dog has had updated rabies shots. I have contacted the vet and will send the inspector the record as soon as it is received.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-680-A
Description: Based on observation, caregivers did not wash their hands with liquid soap and warm running water after diapering a child.
Evidence
Caregiver #3 was observed not washing their hands after changing a diaper.

Plan of Correction: The caregiver was wearing gloves and changed gloves in-between diaper changes. I have reminded her to also wash her hands after she removes the gloves.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-680-B
Description: Based on observations, caregivers did not ensure that a child's hands were washed with liquid soap and warm running water after a diapering.
Evidence
Caregiver #3 did not ensure a child's hands were washed after they changed their diaper.

Plan of Correction: All caregivers have been remined to make sure all children's hands are washed after diaper changes and toileting.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-690-D
Description: REPEAT VIOLATION
Based on observation, the diapering surface was not cleaned and sanitized after each diapering.
Evidence
After a diapering, the diaper surface was sprayed with cleaned with soap and water and patted dry, but was not sanitized with a solution of bleach and water.

Plan of Correction: All caregivers were remined about cleaning and sanitizing the diapering surface. Caregiver followed the cleaning and sanitizing process on the next diaper change.
