Technical Assistance:
1. Discussed the use of safety gates, or the like, to block areas of the home that the children in care should not access, to include outdoor space and the HVAC unit.
2. The inspector will send emergency drill model form, and information about the weekly VDOE newsletter.

Comments:
An announced initial inspection was conducted at 1:00pm. There were no children in care at the time of the inspection. A child that lives in the home was present with the provider. Regulations were reviewed. The daycare areas of the home were found to be clean and sufficiently supplied with toys and equipment for the children. Required enrollment documents were on-file and ready to use. An area of non-compliance with standards and laws reviewed was found. Description: Based on observations made and interview conducted, the landline telephone was not operable. Evidence: The service was to begin today. It is not yet known if the service has not been connected yet by the phone company, or if the actual phone is not working.

Plan of Correction: Phone company coming tomorrow to see whats wrong; will purchase what is neccessary to fix; phone or jack [sic]
