Technical Assistance:
Discussed the MAT Diabetes training that the provider should take as a supplement to her MAT training

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 10/2/2023 from 11:00 am to 12:10 pm. The provider had 12 children in care with 2 caregivers. A total of 22 points. the children attend the providers home for half day preschool. Observed snack time and playing outside.
Reviewed 4 staff and household records as well as 5 children's records. The provider has lots of materials for the children to explore and lots of space.
Interaction between caregivers and children observed during the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-700-A
Description: Based on the review of medications the provider failed to have updated authorizations for one medication.
Evidence: The provider gives a child Glucagon and the authorization for that expired end of SY 2023.

Plan of Correction: I have asked the parent for a new authorization

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-700-C
Description: Based on the review of the medications at the center and the interview with provider, the provider failed to discard an Auvi-Q device after the authorization and the medication expired.
Evidence: The medication authorization expired at the end of last school year and the medication expired in August. The provider did not discard medication.

Plan of Correction: The parent is bring a new device and authorization, I felt that holding on to the old one until I got the new one would be the safest thing to do.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-710
Description: Based on the review of medications on site. The provider failed to have the original box with the prescription able at the home.
Evidence: An Auvi-Q is in a bag without the original box and prescription label.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure I get the box with the prescription label

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-C
Description: Based on the review of the emergency drill record the provider failed to record drills monthly.
Evidence: The drills for April and May 2023 were done according to the provider, but not recorded.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure I remember to write down my emergency drills.
