Discussion on Tuberculosis Screening requirements for staff and criminal background checks.

Comments:

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted October 5, 2023 approximately 10:22 am to 11:45 am. There were 7 children directly supervised by 3 staff. The home, 3 staff records, 2 children?s records, 3 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely outside and resting. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. The home was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Description:	Based on staff records review, 1 out 3 records, the staff did not authorize the family day home to obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check. Evidence: 1. Staff #3 (date of employment 10/02/2023) did not documentation of a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check prior to employment and working with children. 2. Staff #3 was providing care for children during the inspection.
Plan of Correction:	Already provided The services of Staff #3 was terminated on the same day of inspection. She is no more working in my daycare.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-180-A
Description:	Based on staff records review, 1 out 3 records, the provider did not obtain for each caregiver and adult household member a current Report of Tuberculosis Screening form, every two years from the date of the first screening or more frequently as recommended by a physician or the local health department. Evidence: 1. Staff #2 (date of employment 3/31/2023) Tuberculosis Screening results expired on 4/22/2023.
