An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 10/30/23 from 11:30am until 1:00pm. At the time of entrance, there were 10 children in care, for a total of 27 points, with the provider and two assistants. A sample of 5 children's records and 4 provider/household member/assistant records were reviewed. Children were observed eating lunch, listening to children's songs and resting quietly during nap time. Toileting and hand washing procedures were also observed. First aid and emergency supplies, the emergency preparedness plan, documentation of emergency practice drills and family day home postings were reviewed. The provider does not administer medication to children in care. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law. One violation was documented on the violation notice and was discussed with the provider during the exit interview.

Standard #: 22.1-289.036-A Description: Based on record review and interview, the provider did not ensure that the results of a child protective services central registry search are obtained at least every five years for all household members.
Evidence:
1. The most recent results of the central registry search for household member 1 is dated 6/4/18. Household member 1 was due for an updated central registry search in June 2023.
2. The provider confirmed that the central registry search result for household member 1 is expired.Plan of Correction: The provider responded with the following: This was an oversight. An updated central registry search for household member 1 will be requested today. Once received, the results will be forwarded to the licensing inspector.
