Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on November 15, 2023, from 11:00am-12:15pm. At the time of entrance, ( 4 ) children ( 10 ) points were in care with ( 2 ) caregivers present. The inspector reviewed 2 new children?s records and 2 caregiver/household member records. Children were observed playing with toys and going outside. One medication was inspected today. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 22.1-289.035-A
Description: Based on caregiver record review and caregiver interviews, caregiver fingerprints have not been updated every 5 years from the last checks.
Evidence: Caregiver #1 and #2 fingerprints are dated 10/25/2018, they have not been updated every 5 years from the current date.

Plan of Correction: Caregivers will make appointments for fingerprinting today and email the inspector once the results are received.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-710
Description: Based on a review of a child's medication, the medication has not been dispensed from a pharmacy and maintained in the original labeled container.
Evidence: Child #1 epi pen was found with no label and not in a pharmacy labeled container.

Plan of Correction: Caregivers will ask the parent for the original container with the prescription label for the epi pen.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation and caregiver interview, child's medication was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: One child's medication was found in a folder stored in a high shelf, not locked.

Plan of Correction: The medication will be stored in a cabinet or storage unit that can be locked.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-260-A
Description: Based on observation the provider has not has provided access to the water in the aboveground pool with a lock.
Evidence: There is a aboveground pool filled with water located behind a mesh fence. The mesh fence is from the backside of the house to a fence line. There is a small area where it is possible that a child could squeeze through and have access to the pool.
The fence is not secured with a lock.

Plan of Correction: Locks will be purchased and installed on the fence so children will not have access to the pool.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-500-E
Description: Based on observation the sandbox was not covered while not in use.
Evidence: The children were inside and had not been outside yet today. The sandbox was observed with no covering. The caregiver stated they do not cover the sandbox.

Plan of Correction: A tarp will be used to cover the sandbox when not in use.
