54.1 Provider must be MAT certified to administer prescription medication.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/29/2023 from 11:00am to 12:30pm. At the time of the inspection there were 7 children in care and 3 caregivers including the licensee. Total points present were17. Children were eating lunch and preparing for nap time. Emergency supplies, evacuation drills, and records for caregivers, children and household members were reviewed. The outside play space was also reviewed. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice and discussed during the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-A
Description: Based on record review and interviews, it was determined the provider did not ensure that the emergency evacuation procedures were practiced monthly with all caregivers and children in care.
Evidence:
1.The emergency evacuation drill log did not include documentation that an emergency evacuation was practiced in March 2023.
2.The provider confirmed the evacuation drill was not documented

Plan of Correction: Monthly emergency evacuation drills will be conducted and documented. On months that a shelter in place or lockdown drill is conducted the emergency evacuation drill will also be done.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-350-E
Description: Based on observation and measurement, it was determined the provider did not ensure that hot water at taps available to children were maintained within a range of 105?F to 120?F.
Evidence:
1. The water in the main child care room was measured at 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

Plan of Correction: The water heater will be turned down so as not to exceed 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
