A renewal inspection was initiated on 11/28/2023 and concluded on 11/28/2023. There were 5 children present, ranging in ages from 11 mos. to 3 years, with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of child 4 records and 2 provider/staff records were reviewed/updated.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-460-I Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider failed to ensure that animal litter boxes shall be inaccessible to children.
Evidence:
1. Licensing Inspector noticed a closet near the bathroom and changing table. The closet door was open.
2. The open closet contained a used litter box. The closet was accessible to the children using the bathroom and washing their hands.
3. The provider confirmed that the closet door was open for the elderly cat.Plan of Correction: The cat stays outside most of the time. I will get rid of the litter box and make sure the closet door stays closed.
