Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:15 am to 11:00 am. There were 9 children (17 points) in care of 2 caregivers. The children were observed in coloring activities, playing with sensory objects, painting the letter M and playing outdoors. 3 children's records, 2 caregiver's records, 1 household member and 2 pet vaccination records were reviewed. Attendance, emergency drill records and plan were also reviewed to assess compliance. Areas of non-compliance are listed in the violation notice. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-570-A
Description: Based on observation and staff interview, the family day home exceeded the 16 points without an additional caregiver.
Evidence:
1. At 10:15 am, there were 9 children present with the provider. The provider was at a total of 17 points.
2. Caregiver # 1 arrived at 10:45 am. The provider was over 16 points for thirty minutes.

Plan of Correction: Caregiver # 1 arrived at 10:45 am. Caregiver # 1 had an unexpected flat tire which resulted in her delayed arrival to the daycare. We will ensure moving forward that we maintain points.
