Technical Assistance:
Today we discussed standard 8VAC20-800-640-2 which covers actions that are forbidden, to include the use of equipment such as cribs, play pens, high chairs, and safety gates when they are not used for their intended purpose, with children preschool age or younger.
Toddler chairs with safety straps are intended to support young children, preventing them from slipping down off of the chair. Once the child is able to sit, unsupported, particularly if their feet reach the floor, the safety strap is no longer meeting the intended purpose. Please carefully consider when or if they should be utilized.

Please continue to monitor the temperature of the hot water tap in the restroom to ensure it does not exceed 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 1/25/2024 from 2:50 pm-4:15pm. At the time of entrance, there were 5 children, ages 18 months to 3years old, for a total of 11 points in care with 2 caregivers. The sample size consisted of 1 new child record and 2 caregiver records. Children were observed eating an afternoon snack at the table, and playing with table top activities, centers and free play. The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.
