Technical Assistance:
Discussed that children residing in the family day home do not count in the licensed capacity.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 11:15am-11:50am. There were 8 children directly supervised by the provider. The home, 1 caregiver record, 5 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed dancing to a children's program. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. The child care area was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation, medication was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
A prescription medication bottle and a blister pack of medication tablets were observed unlocked on the kitchen window sill.

Plan of Correction: No medication to be left out.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-50-A
Description: REPEAT VIOLATION
Based on observation and provider statement, the family day home failed to keep a written record of children in attendance each day.
Evidence:
There was not a record of attendance for February 6, 2024 at the beginning of the inspection.

Plan of Correction: Old way is not working. I have started a new book to record in.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-60-B
Description: Based on record review, children's records did not contain all required information.
Evidence:
1. Children 1, 3, 4, and 5's records were last updated on 8/3/2022, a period of over one year.
2. Child 5's record did not contain a health insurance policy number.
