Technical Assistance:
Discussion regarding diapering procedures included the use of soap and water and then sanitizing/disinfection of surface, the importance of reviewing and documenting review of emergency plan annually. Shared information on caregiver requirements of substitute versus assistant. During inspection smoke detector beeped and batteries were replaced.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 2/8/2024 from 10:05am-11:20am. There were 4 children (totaling 12 points) directly supervised by 2 caregivers. The home, 3 caregiver records, 4 children?s records, 3 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, other day care postings and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely and eating snack. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on file review, the provider did not have document in writing each review and update to
the emergency preparedness and response plan.
Evidence: Plan last dated 2020.

Plan of Correction: Provider stated she has documented in writing, an updated emergency preparedness and response plan.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-90-A
Description: Based on record review, the family day home did not obtain documentation that the child has been adequately immunized, prior to attending.
Evidence: Child#1?s first day 6/8/23 and immunization record is dated 7/12/23.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-90-C
Description: Based on record review, family day home did not obtain documentation of additional immunizations for a child who is not exempt from the immunization requirements, once every six months for children under the age of two years.
Evidence: Child#1, (10 months old) date of last immunizations in file was 7/2023.

Plan of Correction: Provider verified receipt of updated immunization records for Child#1.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-140-B-4
Description: Based on record review, substitute
provider did not have current first aid certification issued within the past two years.
Evidence:
1. Caregiver #2 who provides substitute care did not have current first aid on file.
2. The substitute provider was observed caring for children while provider was not present from approximately 10:05-10:09.

Plan of Correction: Provider verified current CPR and First Aid certification card for substitute provider.
