Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 2/20/2024 from 10:00 am to 11:55 am. There were 5 children supervised by 2 direct caregivers. The home, 5 caregivers' records, 2 children?s records, 5 household members? records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed engaging freely and eating lunch. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation and inteview, medication was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence: Medication for Child #1 was stored in a bookbag located on top of the refrigerator.

Plan of Correction: We have stored the medication in a safe, locked cabinet that prevents access by children and have a signed letter written from the parent.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-890
Description: Based on observation and interview, food containers were not clearly labeled in a way that identifies the owner.

Evidence: 8 out of 8 food containers were not labeled in a way that identifies the owner.

Plan of Correction: All of the food containers have been labeled and everyone was instructed to make sure they continued to label them.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-60-B
Description: REPEAT VIOLATION

Based on record review and interview, the provider did not obtain all the information required for a child's record.

Evidence: Child #2 is missing a second emergency contact.

Plan of Correction: We have received the second emergency contact and placed it in the appropriate areas.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-70-A
Description: REPEAT VIOLATION

Based on record review, the provider did not provide the family day home policies to parents in writing before the child's first day of attendance.

Evidence: Child #2 is missing the home's policy for the administration of medication.

Plan of Correction: We provided the parents with the family day home policies and have placed the home?s policy for the administration of medication.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-210-A
Description: Based on record review and interview, caregivers did not obtain a minimum of sixteen clock hours of training annually in areas relevant to their job responsibilities.

Evidence: Caregiver #3, Caregiver #4, and Caregiver #5 received 2 hours of annual training.

Plan of Correction: Caregivers 3, 4 & 5 are currently completing their annual training requirements.
