Today we discussed the importance of documenting program leader qualifications. We also discussed crib safety and the importance of having only one mattress. We also talked about children's physicals. Standard 140B has a time schedule that must be followed.
An unannounced monitoring inspection of the facility and records was conducted from 11:30am ? 1:30pm. There were 2 children in care with 2 staff members. Interviews were conducted with children and staff present. Two children?s records and one new staff record was reviewed. Children were observed in lunch, transitions, hand washing, rest room routines and story time. Any repeat violations and or areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-380-A-1 Description: Based on observation and interview the center failed to ensure that children have outdoor activity daily weather and are qualify allowing, for at least 30 minutes. Evidence: 1 - Staff 2 reported that the children have not gone outside to play as of today. 2 - At least one child has been enrolled and present for care since 5/4/15 3 - Staff 2 reports that children are present for care from 9am - 1pm. 4 - The grass on the outside play area is between four and six inches. Plan of Correction: Center management will have the grass cut today. Center management will set a specific time for outdoor play each day.
Standard #: 22VAC40-80-120-E-2 Description: Based on observation and interview the center failed to ensure that the findings of the most recent inspection of the facility are posted. Evidence: 1 - During the inspection of posted information the results of the most recent inspection were not visible. 2 - When asked staff 1 stated that she did not have them to post. 3 - During the inspection staff 1 showed the inspector a copy of the last inspection results and posted them on the center information board. Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection. Center management will ensure that the results are posted after each inspection.
