A renewal inspection was conducted on February 26, 2024 with the provider and an assistant. There were 9 non resident children and one resident child present, ranging in age from 2 years to 5 years, totaling 20 points. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 6 child records, 1 household member, record, and two caregiver records were reviewed. The children were waking from rest, playing outdoors, and eating afternoon snack.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure medications were be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: There were two children's medications located in an upper cabinet that was not locked.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection - provider locked the cabinet that contained medications.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-180-A
Description: Based on review of two household files, the provider failed to have each adult household member obtain a current tuberculosis screening or test every two years from the date of the last screening. Evidence: Household member 1 had a tuberculosis test 6/07/2021; the provider could not locate documentation of a current test or screening.

Plan of Correction: Household member will get an updated TB test or screening if the documentation can not be located.
