Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on March 14, 2024, from 2:35pm to approximately 3:50pm. Present in the home were two staff members and ten children totaling 18 points. The inspectors observed children and staff interactions throughout the inspection. The children were observed waking up from nap time, handwashing, diapering, and snack. Inspectors observed First Aid kits and emergency preparedness documentation. The Inspectors reviewed five children?s records, two staff, and two household members? records. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the FDH and reviewed with both staff member?s present at the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-510-C
Description: Based on observation and interview it was determined that the family day home did not ensure that occupied cots be at least 12 inches from each other.
Evidence:
1. The nine occupied cots at the family day home, during naptime, were not 12 inches apart from each other.
2. Both staff members confirmed that the nine occupied cots were not 12 inches apart from each other.

Plan of Correction: The provider responded with the following: The staff members will move furniture around the center as well as remove the plastic drawer that contain supplies to a different area to ensure that all occupied cots are 12 inches apart from each other.
