Technical Assistance:
The following was reviewed with the provider:
*800-B (annual review of emergency plan)
*320-A (Small electrical appliances)

Comments:
A renewal inspection was initiated on March 29, 2024 at 12:05pm and concluded on March 29, 2024 at 1:30pm. There were six children present with the provider. The ages of the children counted for a total of 13 points.

Children were observed during naptime. The Inspector reviewed six children?s records in addition to records for the provider and one household member.

The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice and discussed during the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-760-A-1
Description: Based on observation and interview the provider failed to ensure that the first aid kit contained all of the required elements.

Evidence:
1. The first aid kit for the family day home lacked antiseptic cleaning solution or pads.
2. The provider confirmed that antiseptic cleaning solution or pads were not available.

Plan of Correction: The provider stated that she would obtain antiseptic cleaning solution.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-100-A
Description: Based on record review and interview the provider failed to obtain documentation of a physical examination by or under the direction of a physician prior to a child's attendance or within 30 days after the first day of attendance.

Evidence:
1.Child #1 (enrollment date 9/6/22) lacked documentation of a physical exam.
2. The provider confirmed that a documented physical was not on file for child #1.

Plan of Correction: The provider stated that she would request a physical exam from the parent of child #1.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-430-C
Description: Based on observation the provider failed to ensure that children over the age of two shall not have access to stairs with three or more risers that do not have protective barriers.

Evidence:
1. The stairs leading from the childcare area into the home lacked any type of barrier to prevent children under the age of two access.
a. These stairs have four risers and there was one child in care under the age of two years.

Plan of Correction: The provider stated that she would place some type of barrier at the bottom of the stairs.
