Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 4/3/2024 from 11:30 am to 12:40 pm. There were 9 children supervised by 4 direct caregivers. The home, 4 caregiver records, 1 household member record, 4 children?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed eating and engaging freely. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Please submit your plan of correction within 5 business days for it to be included on the website. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-290
Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure sharp kitchen utensils and other sharp objects shall be inaccessible to children unless being used by the caregiver or with children under close supervision.

Evidence: A box cutter was kept in an unlocked drawer accessible to children in care.

Plan of Correction: Removed immediately.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-320-A
Description: Based on observation, small electrical appliances were not unplugged when not being used.

Evidence: A toaster oven, toaster, and electric kettle were plugged in while not in use.

Plan of Correction: Corrected and unplugged during inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-320-H
Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure all flammable and combustible materials such as, but not limited to, matches, lighters, lighter fluid, kerosene, turpentine, oil and grease products, aerosol cans, and alcohol shall be stored in an area inaccessible to children.

Evidence: A lighter was kept in an unlocked drawer accessible to children in care.

Plan of Correction: Removed immediately.
