Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted on 4/2/2024 from 10:30 am to 11:28 am. Three children, ages two to three years (total of 7 points) were in care with one caregiver. The Licensing Inspector reviewed four children?s records, one provider record, zero household member records, and other program records. The children were observed in indoor and outdoor free play.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-A
Description: Based on document review and interview, the family day home failed to practice emergency evacuation procedures monthly.

EVIDENCE:
The record shows that an emergency evacuation drill was not done in January 2024, and this was confirmed by staff 1.

Plan of Correction: Schedule practice drills each month. Last drill 3/21/2024.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-B
Description: Based on document review and interview, the family day home failed to have two shelter-in-place drills in the past year.

EVIDENCE:
The record shows that one shelter-in-place drill was done in the past year, and this was confirmed by staff 1.

Plan of Correction: Conduct two shelter-in-place drills a year.

Description: Based on record review, the family day home failed to have a TB screening done every two years from the date of the first screening.

EVIDENCE:
The most recent TB screening for staff 1 was dated 3/21/2022.

Description: REPEAT VIOLATION

Based on observation, the family day home failed to have a non-absorbent diapering surface.

EVIDENCE:
The new diapering surface has an absorbent surface (on one side) and absorbent cloth edges .

Plan of Correction: Purchase a new diaper pad with easy sanitation surface.
