An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 1:30 pm to 2:05 pm. At the time of entrance, 1 child was in care with the provider and assistant provider. The record sample size consisted of 1 children's records and the provider's record and the assistant's record. The children in care were observed engaging with the provider and napping. There have been no injuries since the last inspection and no medications are being administered at this time. Areas of noncompliance are noted in the violation narrative and were discussed with the provider during the exit meeting at the conclusion of the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-430-A Description: Based on observation and interview it was determined the provider did not ensure children under two years of age and children over two years of age who are not developmentally ready to climb or descend stairs without supervision shall not have access to stairs.
Evidence:
1. The stairway did not have a gate that prevented access to children in care.
2. The provider confirmed that the child in care was under two years of age.Plan of Correction: Provider will put a mounted gate at the base of the stairway.
