Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:45am- 12:30pm There were 11 children directly supervised by the provider and 3 assistant caregivers. The home, 4 caregiver records, 4 children?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, medications, and policies were inspected. Children were observed playing freely and preparing to go on their daily walk. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-710
Description: Based on record review, caregivers do not have training required in order to administer prescription medication.

Evidence:
1. Child #5 is prescribed emergency medication that is stored at the Family Day Home.
2. There were no caregivers present at the family day home who have received the medication administration training and certification required in order to administer the specific medication prescribed to the child.

Plan of Correction: Caregivers will obtain the additional medication administration training.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation and caregiver interview, medication was not kept in a locked place.

Evidence:
1. Children's medication was observed in an unlocked bag.
2. A Caregiver reported the bag containing children's medication is kept on a shelf and is not in a locked container.

Plan of Correction: All medication will be maintained in a locked container.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-60-B
Description: Based on record review, 1 of 4 children's records reviewed did not contain all required information.

Evidence:
1. The record for child #2 did not contain documentation of the policy number of the child's medical insurance

Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-90-A
Description: Based on record review, the provider did not obtain documentation that a child has been adequately immunized before the first date of attendance for 1 child.

Evidence:
1. Child #2 began attending the family day home on 4/22/2024.
2. The immunizations in the record for Child #2 were dated 4/23/2024.

Plan of Correction: The provider will ensure immunization records are obtained prior to the child's first day.
