Comments:
Unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 10:00 and ending at 12:50. There were approximately 230 children in care today, ages 3 months through 13 years. Children were observed at swim lessons - There were appropriate procedures in place and more than sufficient staff in addition to the life guard/swimm instructor. Infants were being fed, changed and played with. Older infants were having water play outside as were toddlers. Preschool children were observed on the playground, doing individual and small group activities. School Age children had been on a field trip to the Art Museum and are preparing for their play. They are doing The Wizard of Oz, Medication was reviewed - complete Reviewed staff and children's files - complete Emergency escape drills, and shelter in place drills are up to date as are Health and Fire Inspections. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation , it was determined that some outdoor equipment were no in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: There were two blue poles on a large piece of equipment on the school age playground that have places of peeling paint. Also on the rings on the cross bar have rust on the hinges.

Plan of Correction: The Director will notify the equipment company to evaluate the peeling areas and the rust. If they will not fix the equipment, the facility maintence staff will repaint and repair.
