Technical Assistance:
Discussed with administration: Upcoming transition of children to new classrooms. Parent participation and developmentally appropriate practice to best meet the needs of all children in care.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. Observed 50 children directly supervised by 9 caregivers. Ratio requirements were found to be in compliance. Children's records, new staff records, posted documents, the physical plant, emergency supplies and procedures were also reviewed. The infants were all very interested in the inspection process, while their older classmates were observed reading books, engaged in circle time, and a teacher was observed comforting a friend who was having a tough transition. The preschool children were participating in water play at the time of inspection. The exit interview was conducted with the director. Inspection conducted 10:30 am-12:45pm. If you have any questions regarding today's inspection, please contact Kelly Savittiere at (703) 479-4746 or Kelly.savittiere@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based upon observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a safe place preventing access by children. Evidence: In the toddler room a spray bottle of cleaning solution was sitting on top of the diaper changing table. The bottle appeared to be out of reach of the children in care, however, it was not locked.

Plan of Correction: All hazardous substances will be locked in a safe manner.
