An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:45 - 12:25pm. There were 6 classes present with 86 children present. All classes were within ratio. I observed children preparing for lunch; playing in learning centers; singing; coloring; cleaning up after baking cookies and napping. If you have any questions, please contact me at email@example.com
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-A Description: A review of records during today's inspection showed that there had not been an annual fire inspection as of today. Evidence: The most recent fire inspection was dated 11/21/2014. Plan of Correction: The director contacted the fire department today to schedule an inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Some areas and equipment of the center were observed to not be maintained in a clean and/or safe condition today. Evidence: In the toddler room near the play housekeeping center, there were some areas of the wall observed to have peeling paint at child height. In the 2 year old room, the corner of the diapering table was cracked. In the School-aged room, the side of a plastic shelving unit had a ripped plastic edging at the bottom, creating a tripping hazard. A very dirty rug was also observed in that room. Outdoors: Chipping paint was observed on the gate of the toddler playground. An outdoor mat near the SA entrance was torn at the edges. A piece of a wooden barrier board at ground level was completely broken off. A long protruding screwback was observed on the utility closet in the playground at child height. There was also a broken plastic fastener observed on the slide which was coming off the screw it was covering. Plan of Correction: Work orders will be put in today to make repairs. Broken items will be taped or removed until they are fixed. The rugs were due to be cleaned last month but they will be rescheduled. The rug will be removed until then.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-320-B Description: During today's inspection, the warm water in the children's bathrooms in the 2 year old room had temperatures that exceeded the safe temperature of 120 or below. Evidence: During today's inspection, one of the sinks had hot water that measured 135 degrees, and another sink that measured 130 degrees. Plan of Correction: A work order was put in today to correct this as soon as possible. I will put up a sign to remind staff to use caution when having children wash hands, and test it on a regular basis.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-B Description: During today's inspection, it was observed that decorative materials used in one room were not age or stage appropriate. Evidence: On the wall in the infant/toddler classroom, decorations on surfaces above the children's areas had small craft "googly eyes" and tiny pom-poms. One of the small craft eyes was missing from a project. Plan of Correction: These will be taken down. These materials were not part of the curriculum. I will talk to the teachers about using the plastic measuring container before using materials.

The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K.
