Comments:
An unannounced Renewal inspection was conducted in the Center on February 9, 2016. The LI observed 19 children as they participated in varied activities during the program day. As reported, 20 children are currently enrolled in the program. Upon arrival, the LI observed 3 staff members directly supervising the children. Two additional staff and 2 interns were also present for part of the day. The LI observed the children as they participated in varied activities which included: self-initiated center play, a structured circle activity, an arts/craft project and puzzles. Staff were interacting with the children and provided direction as needed. An inspection of the physical plant was conducted. Age appropriate toys and materials were supplied for the children. The LI observed the children during their lunch meal. Prescribed medications for 4 children were in the Center. Documentation of authorization to administer the medication was reviewed and complete. A sample of 4 children's records and partial information for two staff members was reviewed. A complete staff record was reviewed at the administration office on 01/29/16. A suggestion was made to the Lead Teacher to provide a step stool for the children's use at the classroom hand washing sink. After departure of the children at the end of the program day, the findings of the inspection were reviewed with the Lead Teacher. There were no observed violations of the Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers. The on-site inspection was conducted from approximately 10:00AM to 1:20PM. If you have any questions, please call (540)309-2310. Thank you.
