An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today by the licensing inspector. The center director was present during the inspection. All required information was posted and a sample of staff and children's records were reviewed. Transportation is not provided and children bring their own meals and snacks.
yellow room 2:9 In celebration of the birthday of Dr. Seuss, the children were listening to a Dr. Seuss story. The children had previously done profiles of themselves in the Marc Chagall style, had lanterns and a dragon hanging from the ceiling for Chinese New Year, and had matching games and puzzles out. The room is filled with materials for the children.
blue room 2:12 Children were working in small groups with manipulatives, making cards, playing in and under the castle, and viewing silhouettes of each other (done by the staff person). They were having hot cross buns as part of the same nursery rhyme. The children were going to decorate the top of the "bun".
red room 2:12 This group was finishing up snack then each child sat down on the carpet with a book to read.
orange room - The children were outside on the playground.
polka dot room 2:13 This group was on the rug preparing to move into open time.
green room (open time) 1:5 During open time, this becomes a room for movement/motor activities. While listening to music, the children were on a balance board, sitting on a twister, dancing and using the sit and spins toys.
purple room (open time) 1:8 Children were playing with the My Little Pony play house, experimenting with at the water table, matching colored popsicle sticks, playing with playdough filled with sparkling dots and more.
art room (open time) 2:7 The children were working at 3 tables. Some were using letter stamps to write their names, some were doing "anything goes" where letters, numbers, shapes, tape, crepe paper, etc. are pasted on paper or a paper dowel.
In the hallway, the children's water color Mona Lisa's are on display. There is a variety of age and stage appropriate materials in each classroom.
