Today an unannounced monitoring visit took place with the Director. This visit took place in the morning between 9:45-12 There were 5 classrooms observed with a total of 93 students with 17 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed having morning free play, making arts & craft, learning about bees & butterflies, indoor Gym and in transition for lunch. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, medication and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation of the physical plant, the following areas were found not being maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: In three out of five of the classrooms, chipped/peeling paint were found along the walls, door frames in the classroom. Plan of Correction: Director stated that the whole school will be painted for an upcoming open house and it will be completed within the next two weeks.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-K Description: Based on observation of the physical plant/classroom, medication was found locked however the key was found accessible to children. Evidence: In the Lil monsters classroom, the key to the medicine cabinet was found locked however the key was accessible to the children. Plan of Correction: Teacher immediately removed the key during this inspection and placed it in area inaccessible to children.
