An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on June 23, 2016 from 10:41 a.m. to 2:09 p.m. During the inspection, there were 26 children, ages 4 months to 8 years, with 4 caregivers present. A fifth staff member arrived to prepare lunch and snacks for children and staff. Children were observed using a variety of building items and assembling puzzles while conversing with their teachers, eating lunch, washing their hands, playing with trucks, looking at books, resting and eating a snack. An area of noncompliance was found in the physical plant section. The violation is identified on the violation notice and was discussed with the administrator during the exit interview.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure that areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. From a radio and a telephone base, that were set on a counter, there were 30 inch segments of 2 cords hanging against a wall beside a cabinet in a toddler activity room. 2. This was confirmed by the administrator. Plan of Correction: The administrator will install a strip of cord minder to encapsulate the wires.
