An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today, 9/23/2016 . Observed 26 children directly supervised by 4 staff members. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. A sample of 4 children's records and 3 medications were reviewed, staff files are kept off site and reviewed annually for compliance. The physical plant, medications, emergency supplies and procedures were also reviewed. The children were engaged in various activities, to include: a large group sharing activity and transitions to the rest room. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-F Description: Based on observation and interview, the playground used by children during the summer months does not have an adequate area to provide shade. Evidence: The playground located at the rear of the school building does not have a shaded area for use when children are playing outdoors. Plan of Correction: Will request the planting of fast growing trees.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on review of medication, the child day center did not have the required authorization to administer medication on site. Evidence: Child # 2 and Child # 3's medication authorization gives authorization to the Fairfax County Public School system to administer medication and not the child day center. Plan of Correction: Will request parents use VDSS form.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G Description: Based on review of medication, not all prescription medication was maintained in the original, labeled container. Evidence: Child #1's prescription medication did not have the medicine label, original container and instructions. Plan of Correction: Will request Rx label and container from parent.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G Description: Based on direct observation, not all food from home was not labeled with all required information Evidence: 17 of 19 snacks packaged at home for consumption at the center was missing the name of the child and or date clearly marked. Plan of Correction: Will remind teachers and parents of procedure and require the same.
