22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 9:45 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. During this inspection 113 children were present with 30 staff present. The sample size consisted of five staff's records, four children's records, four diaper ointments, and a review of board officer's background checks and references. Children and staff were observed during free indoor and outdoor play, educational activities, art activities, dancing and singing, story time, bathroom break, hand washing, lunch, and nap. Staff were observed during diapering, bottle feeding, transitions, and behavioral management. Violations from the previous inspection were reviewed for current compliance. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, a cabinet was left unlocked in a classroom with a hazardous substance in it. Evidence: In classroom two B a spray bottle of sanitizer was found in an unlocked cabinet under the changing table. Plan of Correction: Retrained staff & spoke to the teachers in Two B to lock all doors/cabinets to ensure a safe classroom. All spray bottles are to be locked at all times.
