An unannounced inspection was conducted from 830-10:00. There were 27 children present as the school age children were just leaving the center for school. The programs, breakfast, and diaper changes were observed. Staff were also interviewed about special care provisions and medication issues. The Inspector also met and talked with the new management team, reviewed files, and discussed special care for an infant. Please call with questions 703-479-4679
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: After reviewing 4 staff files, the Inspector found one file was missing documentation of reference checks. The staff was a transfer and had all items in the file except for the references. Plan of Correction: I have called for these references and will call again and have sent over.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-320-B Description: Based on observation, the boys bathroom did not have toilet paper available for 2 of the 3 toilets. Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection. I will also be sure to review steps needed for staff who close and open the building as that she be on the checklist.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation, the staff in the Two's class did not perform diapering procedures in accordance with the standards. The staff had placed changed diapers in a bag that was resting on the trash can lid and then after completing another change lifted the bag and then placed it into the trash can. Plan of Correction: As the new Director, I have already planned on a training for staff and the topic of proper diaper changes are on the list. We will continue to remind staff of the necessary steps required.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-032-A Description: Based on record review and staff interviews, the center has failed to conduct monthly evacuation drills for 4 consecutive months. Plan of Correction: As the new management team came in and made changes, we started to get drills back on to be conducted every month. We have already corrected by conducting a drill this month.
