63.2 Licensure and Registration Procedures
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on Friday, December 9, 2016, from approximately 10:45am until 1:00pm. Some, but not all, licensing standards were reviewed. The following staff to child ratios were observed:
Infants: eight children with two staff
Toddlers: nine toddlers with two staff
Two's: fourteen children with two staff
Three's: fifteen children with two staff
Four's: ten children with one staff
Lunch: Spaghetti, pears, zucchini, and milk.
Out of twenty-one staff, nineteen staff are currently certified in Daily Health Observations and First Aid and CPR.
A practice evacuation drill was conducted 11/23/16.
Parent Teacher Conferences were held November 14-18, 2016.
Five children's records and five staff records were inspected.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-530-A Description: Based on interviews and review of staff records, the center did not ensure a staff member currently certified in first aid, and CPR was on premises and on field trips wherever children are in care. Evidence: The individual driving one of the center's vans is not certified in first aid or CPR. Plan of Correction: Per Center: " A staff person currently certified in first aid and CPR will immediately begin going with the van driver."
Standard #: 63.2-1720-F Description: Based on interviews and review of staff records, the center did not ensure each staff person had a completed Criminal Records Clearance prior to being left alone with children. Evidence: Staff #1, does not have a completed and returned Criminal Record Clearance and was alone with children while driving the van. Plan of Correction: Per Center:
" A staff person with a Criminal Record Clearance will immediately begin going with the van driver."
