An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, December 19, 2016 to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 11:50 am and concluded the inspection at 1:45 pm. Upon the inspector's arrival, children were finishing lunch and preparing for nap. Children had been making Christmas ornaments out of clay and beads. The infants were observed playing on the carpet with toys, being held and feed and napping. Staff interacted with the infants in a positive manner. One school age child was in attendance and was observed in the pre-school classroom sorting beads by color and helping with decorating ornaments. The school age child's public school had closed for winter break. The remaining school age children will be on winter break starting tomorrow. The facility will offer full day care for school age children. Santa is scheduled to visit on Friday and a book exchange among children is planned. All areas of the facility were inspected to include classrooms, kitchen and play ground areas. The facility is decorated with seasonal decorations and children's artwork. The center had the following posted: license, daily schedule, emergency numbers, evacuation maps, menu and various parent information. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected and found complete for the building. Two employee records and five children's records were reviewed during today's inspection. The emergency preparedness plan was current. Emergency medications and authorizations were reviewed. Two staff have current EMAT certification and Rectal medication certification. Health Inspection: 11/14/2016 Fire Inspection: 112/07/2016 The last documented evacuation drill was held on 11/09/2016. The two required shelter-in-place drills for 2016 were conducted on on 03/22/2016 and 02/25/2016. Today the following ratios were observed: Pre-K: ( 4 and 5 year old) 13 children with 2 staff (plus 1 school age child). Toddler: 9 toddlers with 2 staff. Preschool: (2 and 3 year old) 13 children with 2 staff. Infants: 7 infants with 2 staff. School age children: not in attendance. The monthly menu was posted and today's lunch consisted of: hot dog on a bun, baked beans, oranges and milk. The violations from the previous inspection on June 16, 2016 were checked for corrections.
