An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 1/26/17 from 1:55pm - 3:25pm. During the inspection there were 122 children ages four months old to five years old in care with 21 staff. A tour of the facility was conducted and children were observed in a variety of activities in the classrooms, playing outside, and during rest period. Records were reviewed for six children and six staff. Medication, emergency procedures, and emergency supplies were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice, and were discussed during the exit interview.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-E Description: Based on a review of the emergency drill log, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that it maintained a record of the dates of the practice drills for one year. Evidence: 1. There was no written documentation available for viewing during the inspection to demonstrate that the facility had completed the required two shelter-in-place drills for 2016. 2. A review of the emergency drill log showed during 2016 only one shelter-in-place drill was completed, and it was completed on 12/16/16. 3. Staff #7 (Program Director) stated the shelter-in-place had been completed, but she forgot to document it. Plan of Correction: The facility responded: A shelter in place drill was done in March during the statewide tornado drill. However, it was not documented. In the future, administration will ensure it is documented.
