- Technical Assistance:
Discussion was held on the topics of current enrollment and current staffing; the new site supervisor was met.
The following inspection took place between the hours of 2 pm through 4 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of the County After-School Activities (CASA) program located on site at Cool Spring Elementary school in the town of Leesburg, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced monitoring inspection there were a total of 20 children with 2 staff; good ratio for this one large group. A total of 3 children?s files were reviewed. Staff files were reviewed on an earlier date. The children were engaged in the following: games, art, reading, homework, bathroom breaks, hand washing, snack, and other organized activities. If you should have any future questions, please call. Thank you. Charlie Perkins, Licensing Inspector (703) 309-3963
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-J Description: Based on observation, 2 of 3 medications were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (02/15/2017), on site medication was observed stored in clear plastic bags with attached "zip-locks" and plastic clasps. Two of three bags were observed improperly sealed, thus providing access to children in care. 2. One unsealed bag with medication was observed lying out in the open, while the other unsealed bag with medication was with a sealed bag with medication. These two bags were stored inside a blue clear bag with a zipper (no attached lock). 3. At the time of inspection, there were 20 school-aged children in care. Plan of Correction: Corrected on the date of inspection. Medication was adjusted in order for both open bags to now be sealed and locked. All three bags was placed in blue clear bag.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-E Description: Based on observation, the center did not have all of the nonmedical emergency supplies on site. Evidence - 1. One working, battery-operated flashlight was not available. The flashlight on site was without a battery, and therefore was not working. 2. One working, battery-operated radio was not available. The radio on site was without a battery, and therefore was not working. Plan of Correction: Ours supervisor shall be notified in order to obtain these batteries.
